Cronulla Sailing Club caters for a wide range of sailors. From Friday afternoon Twilight races to Saturday yacht races and Sunday dinghy races we have options for everyone.
Friday Twilight Sailing
Twilight Sailing is held at 6pm during Eastern Daylight Saving Time between October and April. This is an inclusive sailing event that is open to all yachts, big and small, old and new. The event is held in the confined waters of Gunnamatta Bay. The purpose of the event is to promote the sport/lifestyle and encourage guests to try sailing.
Saturday Yacht Racing
We run a range of Summer series as well as a Winter Series races each year. Most yachts sail every second Saturday with some classes sailing an extra week each month.
During Summer we offer a course-based program to suit the needs of every boat.
Offshore Series – These courses take you offshore anywhere from Bate Bay to Botany Bay, Sydney Harbour, Flinders Island and Shellharbour.
Short Ocean Series – These courses are shorter offshore courses, generally up to 20NM.
Estuary Series – Courses sailed in the Port Hacking Estuary.
Passage Series – A range of courses sailed in Bate Bay.
Triangle Series – Triangle courses sailed in Bate Bay, approximately 11NM.
Sprint Series – One design sprint series currently offered to J24 and Etchells classes.
Sunday Dinghy Racing
The Off the Beach fleets race on Sundays in the Port Hacking Estuary. The first fleet starts at 1400 hrs and they sail a combination of Figure 8 and Triangle courses. All dinghies are welcome.
MG14 Division – The MG14 fleet is strong with 10-15 boats racing each Sunday in the Estuary. The fleet starts at 1400 hrs and sail a combination of Figure 8 and Triangle courses.
Laser Division – The Laser Division shares the course with the MG14 Division and sails a combination of Figure 8 and Triangle Courses. Many Lasers are privately owned however the club has some Lasers which can be hired out for sailing each week.
In the Bay Sailing – This is a junior/training fleet that consists of Bic O’pen Skiffs, Optimists and Manly Juniors. They sail in Gunnamatta bay on a triangle course. This is a mixture of training and racing boats.
