In Memory of James Ley

Jim was a valued and much-loved member of the CSC cruising fleet. A passionate sailor and strong advocate for cruising, Jim was committed to encouraging more people to get involved and enjoy time on the water.

In recent years, he served on the Sailing Committee, where his knowledge, enthusiasm, and dedication made a lasting impact. Jim’s generously shared his love of sailing with others, welcoming many aboard his boat, Seventy Seven, and introducing countless people to the joy of cruising.

His warmth, generosity, and passion for sailing will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

  1. What a perfectly timed In Memory of post! Just as I was planning my own cruising ambitions, along comes this lovely tribute. Who knew sharing your love of sailing could lead to such a permanent spot in the clubs newsfeed? Jim sounds like a real asset to the Sailing Committee – though I bet his version of generously shared might involve slightly more seaweed in the coffee than the committee intended. His dedication to encouraging more people probably involved a few slightly ambitious sea charts. Fair winds indeed, Jim!
